November 2008 marked the second anniversary of Kordia’s partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks in its landmark outsourcing project for Vodafone Australia, which includes engineering, operations and maintenance of Vodafone’s HSD PA, 3G, GPRS and GSM networks.

Kordia is the key partner in delivering access and transmission services to Nokia Siemens, as part of the outsourcing contract.

“This is an important milestone in Kordia’s history as it underpinned our growth in the past few years and broadened our engineering expertise into what it is today,” said Kordia’s Managing Director in Australia, Peter Robson.

This project had its beginnings when Vodafone Australia outsourced its access and transmission capability in 2003 and turned to Kordia for its transmission and maintenance services.

Robson recalled members of the original Kordia team who worked tirelessly to successfully transition part of the Vodafone team into Kordia and set up a framework to deliver managed services to Vodafone.

Responding to market demands, Kordia then expanded its engineering capability and established the Transmission, Radio Frequency and Switching teams.

When Vodafone issued a competitive tender for its contract renewal in 2006, Kordia partnered with Nokia Siemens - which was known for its 3G engineering expertise, core networks capability and global reputation - and submitted a strong capability and effective delivery model to Vodafone.

This combined expertise helped seal the landmark Access and Transmission Services Agreement (ATSA) in November 2006. Since then, Kordia’s Managed Services team, along with support from its National Field Service teams as well as its Logistics staff, have established a great track record in delivering ATSA to Nokia Siemens.

Kordia has worked hard on building its relationship with Nokia Siemens in the last two years and the mutual trust and confidence has resulted in a sound platform for future growth.

Kordia is currently in negotiations with Nokia Siemens to refine its /delivery model and scope to deliver even stronger services to Vodafone in 2010.
