Kordia has been supporting Ericsson in a complex upgrade of Vodafone's 2G services to 3G in regional and rural Australia within a highly compressed timeframe.
Involved in developing a key strategy and implementation plan with Ericsson to upgrade WCDMA services at 900MHz and 2100MHz across 898 sites, this has provided Vodafone with greater data capacity, faster download and upload speeds and better network performance.
Kordia's Technology Services team completed 1000 highly complex transmission upgrade designs in seven months, redesigning the existing 2G transmission to incorporate 3G capacity, to help Ericsson achieve further transmission cost efficiencies for Vodafone.
To ensure smooth transmission deployment, Kordia provided a 24/7 Transmission Integration Centre (TIC) and Engineering Support Service (ESS) to verify all design specifications, dependencies and constraints and provide real time technical support across all transmission swap outs and integration.
This was also supported by a Field Implementation Team who delivered the more complex and challenging task requirements and remote transmission upgrades over a live network to minimise any disruption to the Vodafone network.
