Corporate Social Responsibility

Kordia has recently put more focus on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Innovation to enhance our world

Its key focus is the social investment programme that will deliver on Kordia Group’s core brand, bottom line, and single organising idea – harmonising people and technology.

Kordia is also conscious of the impacts it has on the environment and the community and has sustainability as a core focus.

Kordia social investment programme

Kordia is committed to investing in the communities it operates in, and is focused on aligning these social investments with its brand and core business requirements by:

  • Building an educated future workforce for New Zealand and Australia through our work with the Liggins Institute, the Square Kilometre Array project, IPENZ FutureInTech, and WorkChoice Day;
  • Becoming the first Foundation Partner for New Zealand’s Centre for Social Innovation

Benchmarking our progress

Kordia is a member of the Australia/ New Zealand chapter of the London Benchmarking Group.

LBG Australia & New Zealand is a business membership organisation whose members commit to measuring and benchmarking their corporate community investment contributions using the London Benchmarking Group (LBG) methodology.

Kordia has participated in the last two benchmarks, which have shown that the company is significantly engaged in CSR activity and community involvement which aligns with its core business.

Highlights

  • Total community contributions from Kordia in 2008/2009 were AUD$629,556 (NZD$787,800)
  • An average of 29% of our contributions were categorised as 'commercial initiatives'; 18.5% were charitable donations and the majority of 53% were classified as ‘community investment’.

Kordia does CSR for kids

Kordia participates in the annual WorkChoice Day for Year 12 students as part of its ongoing CSR work to build a future educated workforce for New Zealand.

80 students and their teachers are treated to an insider's guide to what Kordia does, hosted by experienced Kordia people in the Auckland head office, and in the Transmission Control Centre and Maritime Operations Centre at Avalon in Wellington.

Kordia gets rave reviews from both students and supervisors, who say they go away informed and enthusiastic about pursuing a career in the technology, media and telecommunications industry.
