We own the rights to spectrum in key frequency bands suitable for a range of wireless applications. Long-term planning, allocation and auction processes are part of our capabilities. So too, detailed spectrum planning and coverage prediction design.

Kordia Spectrum Platform

2 GHz Spectrum

Kordia has Management Rights to over 70MHz of spectrum:

  • From 2,000 MHz to 2,308 MHz
  • Allocated to primary ‘fixed’ use
  • Suitable for multi access (point to multipoint) wireless systems  such as broadband wireless access
  • Able to support both FDD and TDD technologies

3.5 GHz Spectrum

Also allocated to ‘fixed’ use, Kordia’s spectrum in this band:

  • Is suitable for Broadband wireless applications
  • Can be described as ‘IMT’ spectrum and is also known as ‘WiMAX’ spectrum
  • Includes Management Rights totaling 42MHz

A range of International vendors can supply mass deployment equipment suitable for use in these bands across New Zealand.

25 GHz Spectrum

This spectrum is often referred to as the ‘LMDS Band’ (local multipoint distribution service band). Kordia Management Rights cover:

  • Two bands of 168 MHz each 
  • Applications including short range (100m up to 3 to 6km) multi-point access services

A range of International vendors can supply mass deployment equipment suitable for use in these bands across New Zealand.

Our own network mainly uses licences in the 4.5 GHz band. Other licenses support our network in the 6, 8, 10, 18, 23 and 50 GHz bands. We also have miscellaneous licences in a number of other bands, such as 2 GHz and Ku (12 GHz) bands.
