Maritime Safety Communications

Kordia is at the forefront of maritime solutions in Australasia. From Canberra and from Wellington, we monitor nearly a quarter of the world’s oceans through our transmission networks to ensure that boaties are safe on the water.

Maritime Safety Authority

Kordia’s Maritime Safety Communications Services in Canberra provide the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) with a means of communicating with vessels in distress. The AMSA uses Kordia’s High Frequency (HF) radio technology to do this.

Communications in distress situations is only a part of our role as a specialist network in Australasia.

Assisting ships in distress

Kordia also provides access to ships in need of medical advice, weather forecasts and a host of other services to the vessels within Nav area 10 and 14.

Our use of cutting edge technologies – including satellite, radio, secure internet connections and microwave links – allows us to fully support the Australasian maritime community.

Our highly-reliable, national Automatic Identification System (AIS) network out of New Zealand means that we are in the best position to provide vessel monitoring services.
